California rape murder suspect fatally shot by US Marshals

U.S. Marshals in Phoenix on Friday evening shot and killed a fugitive wanted in California on murder and rape charges, the federal agency said.

The fugitive died amid an exchange of gunfire with members of U.S. Marshals Service task force near Sky Harbor International Airport.

When task force members tried to arrest the suspect, "a handgun was produced, and the suspect fired multiple rounds at law enforcement. Task Force members returned fire, striking the suspect," the Marshals Service statement said in a statement.

A Chicago man fatally shot a 24-year-old graduate of the University of Chicago before robbing him and selling his stolen electronics to a pawn shop for $100, authorities said Friday.

Two charged in murder of man found shot at Memphis hotel

The victim, identified as 29-year-old Rodrecus Partee, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

According to an affidavit, video surveillance showed a woman meet the victim in the hotel parking lot.

As they began to walk toward the hotel, another man approached from behind and shot the victim multiple times in the back, records show.

The woman ran to the east side of the building.
